Until two days ago, I was pretty sure our baby was a vampire. She slept all day and loved being awake at night. She was especially awake from 1am until 5am. We would walk her, rock her, hold her, sing to her, carry her in the baby carrier, watch Survivor Man with her, sit in the glider with her for hours, and she WOULD NOT SLEEP. She would look at us with gigantic eyes and laugh. We started sleeping in shifts. KB would be up for two hours, then I would be up for two hours. I had to start putting on a lot of eye cream.
Then, we took her to the pediatrician for her well-baby 4 week check-up, and were told the obvious: don't stimulate her at night. Lights off, feed her, change her, and back to bed. Oh. So, sitting up singing with the lights blazing isn't conducive to sleep? So, we did that. And now she sleeps. And we sleep. And I've laid off the eye cream. Thanks, Dr. Papageorge!
